  • Downtown – This area is being reviatlized and many old buildings are being demolished to make space for new buildings. Twentieth century architecture is being eliminated from the landscape, including the Vagabond Hotel. The historic Fulton Mall and Chinatown are being considered for preservation.
  • Sunnyside – The first affluent area in Fresno, Sunnyside is on the far east side of the city. Less affluent people are moving in, but some notable residents remain.
  • Old Fig Garden – Historic and prestigous neighborhood set among old trees. The "Christmas Tree Lane" is found in this area of the city.
  • Tower District – This area surrounds the Historic Tower Theatre. It’s a vibrant and diverse section of the city which contains residential and commercial areas that have been restored in recent years. It is also the center of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) community in Fresno.
  • Huntington Boulevard – Many homes in this area were built in the early 1900’s and make up the historic Alta Vista Tract. Surrounding sections of the area are being renovated and revitalized. This is another area that is prominently decorated during the Christmas season.
  • Van Ness Extension – The largest and most expensive estates in Fresno are in this area.
  • Kearney Boulevard – This section of Fresno was named for M. Theo Kearney, the early 20th century entrepreneur and billionaire. The area features large homes and a more rural atmosphere in some sections.
  • Sierra Sky Park – The Sierra Sky Park Airport is located in this area along with the residential community which developed around the airport. Private aircraft and automobiles share some of the same roads in this area. The idea has taken root in other areas of the United States.
