Centennial Moving Quote
Centennial had an estimated population of 98,243 in
2005, making it the tenth largest city in Colorado. The city is 28 square
miles and it is at an elevation of 1,777 feet above sea level. People sometimes
identify Centennial by the names of nearby cities, such as Aurora and Littleton. Sometimes this is because
the borders of the city are confusing and distorted. Cherry Creek Public Schools and Littleton Public Schools serve the area. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located its Denver Temple
in Centennial.
Nearby areas include:

Centennial was created from unincorporated areas
within Arapahoe County in 2001. This was done to prevent Greenwood Village from
taking areas from the county to increase its tax base. It is located within the
Denver Metropolitan area.
Centennial, by James Michener, and the miniseries
were set in a fictional town in Colorado. However, it was not based on the real
town of Centennial, Colorado. Some research has indicated that the story would
seem to be set in Douglas County. The mansion used in the book was based on the
Phipps property in the area known today as Highland Ranch.
Centennial Airport is located outside the city
limits and it wasn't named after the city, because it was named 30 years before
the city existed.
