in December 2005. It's a suburb of Atlanta,
Georgia. There
are sandy springs in a protected site in the area and the city was named for
these springs. Sandy Springs is the eighth largest city in Georgia with an
estimated population of 85,771 in 2006. It is the second largest city in the
Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta Metropolitan area. The city is 39 square miles
with 1.3 square miles on water and the elevation is 1,093 feet above sea level.
