The summers in Maine are warm and humid
while winters are cold with plenty of snow. The northern portions of Maine have the most
severe winters. The areas on the coast are more moderate than areas further
inland. Temperatures during the day are usually 75-80 degrees in the middle of
summer. January is usually between 0 and 32 degrees in the northernmost parts
of the state.
Hurricanes hit Maine occasionally. By
the time they get to the coast of Maine
the brunt of the storm is over, but there could still be torrential rain and
high winds. Thunderstorms are rare in Maine.
