The remaining areas of Michigan have more severe weather, with hot, humid summers and long, cold winters. This northern part of the state has frequent, heavy lake effect snow.

Michigan has 38 deep water ports and Detroit Metro Aiprort is one of the most recently expanded and modernized airports.
