square miles with a population of 62,304.
St Charles is the second oldest city located west of the
Mississippi.
It was founded in 1765 by Louis Blanchette. The town was the last "civilized"
stop on the Lewis and Clark Expedition. It was also the first capital of Missouri in 1821 and
1826.
