The climate in Oklahoma is a contrast of cold and warm elements throughout the year. There’s a wide variety in the weather in the state. The southeastern part of the state is humid and warm while the High Plains of the Panhandle are semi arid. Southeastern Oklahoma averages about 52 inches of precipitation a year. Thunderstorms are the most severe between April and July and are known as the most severe in the world. The majority of Oklahoma lies within "tornado alley".

Fuel and food production are prominent parts of the Oklahoma economy. Food products include: cattle, cotton, dairy, poultry, soy, and wheat. The state ranks fourth in wheat production in the state. Other economic factors include: electric products, equipment, food processing, machinery, plastic products, rubber products, and transportation. The Oklahoma and Tulsa metropolitan areas have large scale economic development and tourism initiatives.
