In 2000, Everett had a population of 91,488 which made it the 6th largest city in the state. In 2007, the population was estimated to be 101,800 after the city grew and after an annexation. It is located 25 miles from Seattle. The city is 47 square miles with 15 square miles on water. Everett is one of the core cities in the Seattle-Tacoma-Olympia metropolitan area.

Naval Station Everett was the site of a US Navy Homeport in 1984 and it opened in 1992.
